What a weekend!!

Before the weekend started I asked my husband for a LOT of sewing time over the weekend since it was the last weekend before the Vendor Fair. Saturday morning my husband asked for me to take care of the kids' breakfast and he would take care of them the rest of the day. What a great day it was!! I got SO MUCH sewing done on Saturday. I don't have pictures taken yet, but I've got some REALLY cute outfits made up for the fair (at least in my opinion! :-)). The day was not interruption free, but how can I complain since I didn't have to do much besides sewing!! Sunday wasn't as successful, but I did get some done!!

My Little Girl is growing up....

Yesterday after nap I decided to try my daughter in some training pants. I had some already washed and in her dresser ready to wear. I figured she will be 2 in just a couple weeks, so I wanted to see how she would do without a dryer. Panties went on and she stayed dry the rest of the day. I sat her on the potty once or twice and she pee peed. Today we started with panties from the time she got up this morning. She stayed dry ALL DAY!!! Woohoo!! She tells me when she has to go poo poo, but by the time she tells me she has to go pee pee her diaper is wet, so I put her on the potty every hour or two. At nap time I put her in a diaper because I didn't want to a wet bed. She took a long nap and when she got up she was still dry. I think I will wait for several dry naps before we give up the diaper at nap time! I'm still in shock she didn't have any accidents. Hopefully she will soon be telling me when she has to go every time!!

Peasant Style Dress with 3/4 Sleeves

I did a test run on the peasant style dress with long sleeves from The Handmade Dress, Miss Madeline pattern. I ended up with 3/4 sleeves, which turned out to be perfect for an almost 2 year old. Little Miss got to wear the dress yesterday to the Children's Museum and looked so cute. I even made her a matching bow to wear with the dress. Now that the test run was successful I'll be making some more of these in some more expensive fabrics. She seemed to really like the dress (especially since it is PINK and has Woggies on it!!) and said it was confortable!!

Noooooo.....

As I sit here catching up on all the blogs I enjoy reading each day my daughter comes up to my room saying, "Mommy, Mommy, Mommy!!!". I ask, "Where is your backpack?" and get some mumbled answer. I then ask, "Is it downstairs?" and her reply is "Noooo". "Is it in your room?" and her reply is "Nooooo". She has the sillyest look on her face when she says no and I just had to share. Still not sure where her new back is (my inlaws were in this weekend and they always come with gifts for the kids!)!!

Dresses....

About a month ago I won a free dress pattern, Miss Madeline, from The Handmade Dress, http://thehandmadedress.blogspot.com/. It is a peasant style dress and I finally got around to sewing up a couple for the craft show last night and I LOVE this dress. It is easy to sew up and so cute. The first two I did without the apron on the front, but I think I will probably make at least one with the apron to show some options. The pattern is available in 6 months - 4 years or 5 years - 10 years. I have the smaller pattern because my daughter falls into the smaller size, but I expect I will be enlarging the pattern when she gets older. There is also a tutorial for adding long sleeves to the dress. I've also been working on bows for the show. Pictures coming soon!!

Sickly kids....

Last week my husband was out of town on visit and wouldn't you know, both kids came down with colds and ear infections. We made two trips to the doctor because they came down with colds a few days apart. It was suppose to be a fun week and I hoped to get lots of sewing done to prepare for the craft show I am participating in in less than 3 weeks, but didn't get as much done as I hoped!! My days have not been very successful getting much sewing done, so I spend part of my evenings sewing with whatever energy I have left. Now I have to take my embroidery machine to get serviced Thursday evening and will be without it for a week! Guess I better get busy!!! I at least have my 4x4 machine I can use to embroider small designs!!
